PSA: Global Warming Videos

Below are 2 PSA videos created using Camtasia. The biggest challenge for the videos have been the time limit and creating the video to be 30 seconds. The timing of the text and transitions and getting it to flow has to all come together from beginning to end. With each assignment I am experimenting with new features and trying to incorporate them. With my PSA, I modified behavior of text slides and how to manipulate words for certain effects. There are so many tools in Camtasia yet to learn, but I am feeling more and more confident in using it to create projects.

Slideshow Video of Beautiful Belize!

In the summer of 2018, I had the privilege of traveling with a group of amazing educators from across North Carolina to Belize. We were participating in a program called the Educators of Excellence Institute which is offered by the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. The video below is just a small sample of the beautiful wildlife and landscapes the country has to offer. If you ever get the chance to visit, make sure you visit The Belize Zoo. A few of the images were taken of the wonderful animal exhibits found there.

The video was created using Camtasia, which is a screen recorder and video editor. I have used it intermittently over the past few years mainly to do screen recordings and integrate it with PowerPoint. Being in education during a pandemic has caused a greater need for learning skills required to reach students through distance education. This project allowed me the opportunity to do more than just screen recordings. I experimented with additional features such as slide transitions, adding audio tracks, and pan and zoom. I also incorporated graphics from using Canva into the video. I have learned a lot more of the basic editing tools that I had not used previously, and feel more comfortable with basic video editing and creating. I am excited to explore more of the features that are in Camtasia, such as hot spots and posting interactive videos on WordPress.
